Sports nutrition

Counselling planned around your training schedule, sport and goals, covering nutrition before, during and after training.

Sports nutrition

People who exercise regularly have energy, protein, carbohydrate and fluid needs that vary with the type, duration and intensity of their training. In sports nutrition counselling we look at your training programme and your daily life together to plan an eating pattern that suits you.

Who do I work with?

  • People involved in endurance sports such as running, cycling and swimming,
  • Those who do fitness and strength training,
  • Amateur athletes in team sports,
  • Active teenagers (with parental involvement),
  • People preparing for an event such as a marathon or triathlon.

What do we plan?

Daily eating pattern

We create a plan that balances your energy and nutrient intake, taking into account the differences between training days and rest days.

Before and after training

We talk about when and what it suits you to eat before training, and meal options that support recovery afterwards. We find practical solutions for those who train early in the morning or after work.

Fluids and electrolytes

I help you plan your fluid intake according to how much you sweat, the weather and the length of your sessions.

Race and event periods

For those preparing for long-distance events, we try out nutrition strategies together for the days before the event, the morning of the event and during the event itself. One of my most basic recommendations is never to try a new food or product for the first time on race day.

About supplements

Supplements are a frequent question among athletes. In our sessions, we first assess how your needs can be met through food. When supplement use comes up, I provide information on the reliability and necessity of products, and if you have a medical condition, I recommend consulting your physician.

Nutrition is only one of many factors that affect performance. This counselling becomes more meaningful when it is part of a holistic approach involving your coach and, where relevant, your physician.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be a professional athlete?

No. Anyone who exercises regularly can benefit from this counselling. Someone who goes to the gym a few days a week and someone preparing for a marathon can both receive a plan suited to their needs.

Should I use protein powder?

First we assess whether your daily diet meets your protein needs. In most cases these needs can be met through food. Supplement use is discussed based on a personal assessment.

Do you also prepare training programmes?

No, preparing training programmes is the expertise of coaches. I shape your nutrition plan around your existing training programme.
